Herniated discs can be major sources of pain and discomfort. Many patients find that their symptoms also lead to reduced mobility. At Community Health and Wellness Center in Plantation, FL, our professional spinal decompression treatments can help you increase your range of motion and get back to doing the activities you love.

What are herniated discs?

A herniated disc, also known as a bulging disc, forms when the center of a vertebrae slips through the annulus, or outer layer, through a small rupture or tear. This protrusion can exert excess pressure on nerves in the spinal column, causing pain, inflammation, numbness, and sciatica (pain that shoots down the backs of the legs).

It can be attributed to a variety of sources, including sports or auto injuries, degenerative disc disease, or physically demanding professions. Herniated disc pain is often a chronic condition, leading to a lifetime of potential discomfort if left untreated.

What is spinal decompression?

Spinal decompression is an effective bulging disc treatment technique that involves carefully stretching the spine using a motorized traction table. Pressure is taken off of the affected disc or discs, allowing them to revert back to their proper shape. Spinal decompression also serves to decrease stenosis, or narrowing, of the spinal column. With time and proper treatment, spinal decompression can resolve and even eliminate your low back pain. A typical session usually takes under an hour and requires no post-appointment downtime or recovery.

What are the benefits of spinal decompression?

Spinal decompression is all-natural and non-invasive. Many surgeries require extensive periods of post-op downtime. Common treatments like cortisol shots can require a full day of post-session rest. In comparison, spinal decompression patients are able to return to their regular activities right after their appointment. Many patients turn to over the counter pain relievers and prescription drugs to alleviate their pain, but these medications can have harmful side effects. Spinal decompression, on the other hand, is completely drug-free.
